Chautauqua County posts a system of touring routes, using the standard pantagon shield shown above, with the numbers given in the "CR#" column below. Even numbers are east-west, and odd numbers are north-south; the numbers increase roughly from southwest to northeast across the County. Exceptional numbers include CR 69, a continuation of PA 69, and CR 380, the former NY 380.
These touring routes are signed over one or more sections of county
highway that are themselves numbered independently of the touring route
system. The numbers of these sections are given in the "CH#" column below.
In the "Towns" column, Villages and CITIES are also listed; it is
common in Chautauqua County for county highways to traverse both. Names
of county highways, outside of Villages and Cities, are in many cases no
longer used. Those names still in common use are given below.
